Performance

A2 has two tiers of shared hosting: standard plans (Apache web server, SSD storage) and Turbo plans (LiteSpeed web server, NVMe SSD storage). The performance difference between the two is significant.

Standard Plans (StartUp, Drive)

Standard A2 performance is above average but not exceptional. Comparable to Bluehost and slightly behind Hostinger (420ms TTFB).

Turbo Plans (Turbo Boost, Turbo Max)

The Turbo plans are where A2 Hosting earns its speed reputation. 310ms TTFB is genuinely fast — faster than SiteGround on raw TTFB, though SiteGround edges ahead on uptime. The LiteSpeed web server combined with NVMe storage makes a measurable difference.

Is It Really “20X Faster”?

No. A2’s Turbo plans are roughly 2-3X faster than typical budget shared hosting and roughly on par with or slightly ahead of SiteGround. The “20X” claim comes from comparing Turbo NVMe hosting to old HDD-based hosting without caching — a comparison nobody in 2026 should be making. The speed is real; the marketing number is exaggerated.

A2 uses the standard industry model: low intro rates that increase significantly on renewal.

Shared Hosting Plans

Our take: The Turbo Boost plan at $6.99/month is the sweet spot. It’s only $4 more than the StartUp plan but delivers dramatically better performance. The standard StartUp and Drive plans are adequate but don’t differentiate A2 from cheaper competitors like Hostinger.

A2 Turbo costs more than both over 3 years. However, A2 Turbo performance matches or beats SiteGround, making it a valid alternative for speed-focused users who want LiteSpeed infrastructure.

A2 Hosting is a solid host with genuinely fast Turbo plans. The LiteSpeed + NVMe combination delivers real performance gains that you can measure. But the standard plans don’t stand out, the renewal prices are steep, and the “20X faster” marketing oversells the actual advantage.

Our recommendation: If you’re considering A2, get the Turbo Boost plan. The standard plans aren’t worth it when Hostinger and SiteGround exist. With Turbo, A2 competes on speed with the best in the shared hosting market.
